2001 test drive

I test drove a 2001 5spd QC 4x4 the other day. As you can see from my sig, I currently drive a 97 5spd. Anyways, this 24v had no guts what so ever, especially from 60-70 in 5th. I just didn't seen to have any power. Is this normal for these trucks? This is the first 24v I have ever driven. My 97 will run circles around it. My 97 is a california 180 5spd, and is stock except for the plate being moved forward. Let me know what yall think

Hi redrocket i would say something is not right with that 01 i have a 99 quadcab i ton 2wd 5sp 3.55 gear and at 60 if you want to pass someone you just put your foot into it and roll on around them the best part is the look on their face when that big old truck goes by and they are shocked i don't even need to downshift just give it some throttle and off we go!

when I get on the freeway leaving our town, short on ramp on a 45 mph curve. I often have to tromp on it do to truck traffic. I always like to hear the drivers coments on the cb. Man did you see that p/u take off like it was shot out of a canon.

Judging from the signatures above I would say only Rattlerbob can make a statement on how a "stock" truck performs. My 01 has an auto trans, but I do feel that it is a "pooch" in stock configuration. The simple little EZ made it a whole new truck to drive.

j body you are correct my 99 is still stock not for long now though since it is over 200k i think it is broken in and i can start to play with it My 94 auto with 4:10 gears was real dog untill i kicked it in the behind with the injectors and cranked the timing up to 17*- sloppy convertor needs to go but the lockup switch sure helps once you manually lock it step on the skinny pedal and she takes right off instead of all that reving and going noware The 99 is getting the lift pump moved to the rear where it belongs and larger lines then a wake up call with some injectors and exhaust

Mine is still stck with 2 exceptions, And I can go from 60- 90 just passing a car. Its a little of a slouch on take off due to no mods and the torque ramp up from the IP but once I have boost forget it its gone.

There was very little smoke. When I looked under the hood, there were two plugs on the driver side by the fuse box that were just hanging there. I asked him what they were for and he had no idea. I have no experience with 24V so I didn;t know if they were diagnostic plugs or what.

There are no diagnostic plugs in that area.
