1st Gen NV4500: Will 727 X member work w/ mods?
Just getting ready to start my D250 Cummins 727 to NV4500 swap. Last thing I need know is if the 727 cross will work with mods? And does anyone know how much shorter the drive line will need to be? I've read several threads on having to spread the frame (4x4) to get cross back in. Is this the same on 2wd?
Thanks guys,
AC

You would have to heavily modify a 2wd cross member to get it to work with the 4wd system. Your better off, in my opinion, to get a 4wd cross member. You can get from a manual, or auto truck...they are the same unit, other then the adapter to the actual transmission.
You might have to drill some new holes in the frame for the 4wd cross member, but other then that it's a direct swap, with no frame spreading needed.

Like Trashing said, get a 4x4 crossmember and put it in.
You should space it back one hole in the frame and drill one new hole in the frame, further back for the crossmember.
