05 Dodge Auto Horn Blow by Pass
Yeah so i have a 05 auto dodge and everytime you open the driver door when the truck is in any gear except Park the horn will blow. This is a safety thing but i like to have the door open when backing up to trailers and i keep getting in and out. Is there a wire or something i can cut and wire that will make the horn think the truck is in park. anyone mess with this yet. Thanks

AAAA HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
No seriously, there's no way to do it so far as I know. This feature was added to the truck programming as a safety recall to 'solve' the problem of people getting out of the truck with the transmission not quite in park. Once it's in your computer it's there to stay. I went an entire year making my dealer initial a note on any service order saying the flash would not be installed, then I stopped in at another dealer for a quick service and now whenever I'm hooking up my trailer.....HONK-HONK-HONK.

Put a relay and switch in the horn curcuit.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Just install a relay in the horn circuit that drops the 12v to the horns while the reverse lights are on. Would take a little wiring, but nothing complicated.

You could just wire a flip switch in line with the horn and turn it off when backing up and flip it on when driving,

I read that some people have been jumping together the wires to the switch in the driver's seat belt buckle. The seat belt will then appear to be buckled and the horn will not blow.

The horn honks when the door is open, the tranny is in gear, and your seatbelt is not on. Jumper-wire your seatbelt connector at the buckle and it will solve your problem.

Under the seat you'll see a plug going to the seat belt. I think it's only two wires. I got a small piece of wire and used a T splice to jump them together. No more seatbelt ding and no more horn honk.
Or you could do this http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/90771-post20.html

I've tried all of those, but they didn't work on my '05. So what I do now is that I have a screwdrive in the truck at all times that I use to flip the latch on the door itself. When the door is open you can see a "c" shaped mechanism that flip with the screw drive. Once flipped, you can back up with the door open all you want. Once done flip it back to open and you can close your door and drive off as usual.

Yes i have already done the seltbelt wire because i hate the ding and light when you dont have the seltbelt on. The horn still will blow. I guess i will have to go the screwdriver thing as well. Thanks

the seat belt latch wires under the seat will cure the problem. Scotch lock them together. the horn will not go off if the seat belt is latched plus you don't have the seat belt light and chime going off if you don't use the belt
