02 keeps losing/unable to build power
HELP !

I have a 2002 2500 Dodge quad cab long bed p/u with the cummins standard diseal and 5-speed manual. The truck has about 11,800 miles and ran great until begining of Oct. I use for work and pulling a travel trailer (light about 8000 lbs fully loaded).

The truck started to surge (depress the accelerator pedal and no response, then power somtimes begins to buid) / loose power and the check engine light would come on. I have had the truck to the dealer 4 times this month (it's been in repair every week in Oct). The dealer has replace a turbo boost sensor and on the last visit a wire harness of some sort. After the wire harness replace it worked for about 3 days and messed up again.

I have contacte the Dodge tech support in detroite talked to the dealer owner .....,

HELP ! Has anyone run into this have any ideas, the dealer seems to be unable to resolve the issue.

Thanks,

Tony, I would look at the MAP and IAT sensors real close, check all the connections and if you can, pull them and check to see how clean they are. Second pull the fuel filter and replace it, if it has not been done already. It really sounds like an electrical problem, look in the sites TECH FACTS section and do some reading, information there might help lead you in the right direction.
Chime in guys If you have any other ideas...just a stab here

Re:02 keeps losing/unable to build power
We had the same problem, surging....after three attempts,
the service mechanics at the dodge dealer reprogrammed
the computer chip. They tried to charge me $200.00. but
after arguing with them they decided that the reprogramming
fell under the ecm guides, something about exhaust regulations...anyway that fixed that problem.
